Is the redaction truly permanent — can someone recover the hidden text?

Yes, the redaction is permanent. Unlike overlay-based tools, our engine deletes the underlying text and image data from the PDF structure itself. The content cannot be recovered by copy-paste, PDF editors, or any other method.

Does it also remove metadata like author name and creation date?

Yes, there is an optional metadata stripping step during download. This removes document properties such as author name, software used, and creation timestamp for full document sanitisation.

Can I redact scanned PDFs?

Yes. OCR processing identifies text within scanned images so it can be targeted for redaction. For heavily degraded scans, OCR accuracy may vary, so a manual review is recommended.

Is this tool suitable for GDPR compliance?

It provides a solid technical foundation for removing personal data from documents. For a formal compliance assessment, consult a data protection officer or legal adviser for your specific jurisdiction.

How long is my file stored on your servers?

Your file is held only for the duration of processing and download. It is automatically and permanently deleted afterward. We do not store, index, or analyze document content.

Basic redaction on small documents is free. Large files, bulk find-and-redact, and metadata stripping are available under the premium plan.
