What encryption standard does the tool use?

We apply AES-256 bit encryption, the same standard used by banks and government agencies. It is virtually unbreakable with a strong password.

Will the encrypted PDF open on all PDF readers?

Yes. AES-encrypted PDFs are supported by Adobe Acrobat, Foxit Reader, macOS Preview, and all other mainstream PDF viewers.

What happens if I lose the password after encrypting?

We do not store your password at any point. If you lose it, the document cannot be recovered through our service — please store your password in a secure place.

Does encryption reduce the document quality or alter the content?

No. Encryption only adds an access control layer. All text, images, and formatting in the original document are preserved exactly.

Can I encrypt multiple PDFs at once?

Batch encryption is available on premium plans. The free tier processes one file at a time.

Is there a file size limit for encryption?

Files up to 100 MB can be encrypted. For larger documents, consider compressing the PDF first using our PDF Compressor.
