What is a mind map and when should I use one?

Is there a limit to how many nodes I can add?

There is no technical limit. For practical readability, we suggest keeping each branch to around five child nodes and opening a new map if a subtopic grows large enough to stand on its own.

Will my map be saved if I close the browser tab?

Yes. Your map is automatically saved to your browser's localStorage. When you return on the same browser and device, it will reopen exactly where you left off.

How do I share my mind map with others?

Export it as a PNG or PDF and share the file however you like, through email, a messaging app, or embedded in a presentation. Real-time collaborative editing is not available yet.

How is a mind map different from an outline or a to-do list?

Outlines and lists show items in sequence. A mind map shows relationships, making it much easier to see the big picture and spot connections between ideas that might not be obvious in a linear format.

Can I use it on my phone or tablet?

Yes. The canvas is fully touch-optimized. You can pinch to zoom, tap to select, and drag nodes with your finger on any modern smartphone or tablet.

What file formats can I export my map in?
