Can I exclude arbitrary pages (e.g., only page 5) in the middle of the document from numbering?

No, only the "Skip First N Pages" (consecutive range from the beginning) option is available; arbitrary/individual page exclusion is not supported.

Can I use a different number format for each section (e.g., Roman for preface, Arabic for main text)?

No, a single global format is applied to the entire document; for different sections, you need to run the tool twice separately.

Where is my file processed, does it leave my device?

Your file is processed in your browser and does not leave your device. The numbering process takes place entirely on your own device.

Which positions on the page can I add page numbers to?

You can place numbers in one of a total of six positions: top or bottom edge; left, center, and right. The positions you can use are Top Left, Top Center, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Center, and Bottom Right.

Can I define the number template myself?

Yes, you can create your own number format by writing {n} and {total} in the template field. For example, with the template "Page {n} / {total}", you can show the number of each page and the total number of pages.

Academic thesis: Roman numerals (i,ii,iii) for the preface + Arabic (1,2,3) for the main body (skip=10).
Legal filing: a "No.{n}/{total}" template — matches docket-style numbering.
Book manuscript: a plain bottom-center format instead of left/right alternation.
