What's the difference between SRT, VTT, and hardcoded/subtitle embedding?

**SRT (.srt)** is the most widely supported format, compatible with YouTube, Vimeo, and Netflix, and offers simple text subtitles. **VTT (.vtt)** is ideal for web use, as it's compatible with HTML5 video tags and provides styling options (color, position). **Hardcoded/subtitle embedding** burns the subtitles into the video, making them unremovable, but viewable on all players (including TikTok and Instagram Reels, where subtitles are required). **Soft embedding** adds subtitles to MP4 or MKV files, allowing viewers to turn them on or off.

Can I manually correct the subtitles — fix the wrong words?
