Frequently asked questions
Yes. Every page in the TIFF (up to 100) becomes a page of one PDF, in order. Each page keeps its own size and resolution, so mixed-size scans are fine.
With "Original" the page size is computed from the image's pixel size and its DPI tag (e.g. 2480×3508 px at 300 DPI → A4). If there is no DPI tag, scan-sized images assume 300 DPI and small images 96 DPI. Choose A4 or Letter to fit and center the image without distortion; landscape images get landscape pages.
In Auto mode colour/grey pages are embedded as JPEG (quality 30-100%), while black-and-white (1-bit) scans are compressed losslessly so text stays sharp and files stay small. Lossless mode embeds every page losslessly, producing larger files.
Up to 50 MB and 100 pages; 80 megapixels per page and 600 megapixels in total. For bigger files, split the TIFF or lower the resolution first.
The PDF to TIFF tool offers 72-600 DPI. Use 150 for screen/archive, 300 for print and OCR, and 600 for fine line art or tiny text. File size grows quickly with DPI.
Colour (24-bit) is the largest. Grey is roughly half. Black-and-white (1-bit) is smallest for text documents and, with CCITT G4, matches the fax/archive standard. For colour/grey choose LZW (lossless, widely compatible), Deflate/ZIP (lossless, often smaller) or JPEG (lossy, very small).
Yes. Enter a range like 1-3,5,7-9 in the page-range box. Leave it empty to convert all pages (up to 100). A range outside the document returns a clear error.
Password-protected PDFs are not processed — remove the password first with the PDF unlock tool. For damaged files the conversion stops with a clear explanation instead of a server error.
Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, scanned for malware, and processed in a temporary folder that is deleted as soon as the job finishes; they are not stored permanently. The file type is verified from the file content, not the extension.
